The Sony World Photography Awards received more than 227,000 images this year from 183 countries around the world. Choosing a short list from this huge array of photos is no small feat. Here is a very small selection that stood out from the crowd.
Overall winners will be revealed April 20 whereafter they will be exhibited with shortlisted and commended entries at Somerset House in London. The following entries are taken from the Professional and Open competitions — both of which entail 10 categories.
